This has been an incredibly busy week in the world. With one faulty software upgrade we have:
- TV stations down
- Planes are grounded
- Bank systems are down
- Airports and airline systems are down
- 911 outages
Business awoke to the dreaded Blue Screen of Death. Did any of us without our computers even know of the Chilean 7.4 earthquake or the Houthis drone attack on Tel Aviv?
Our reliance on technology has never been more apparent. We all watch in horror last week as a former U.S. President was shot while speaking live on the television. Would we have known if that had occurred today with the World’s computers shut down. Will you read this post today? Or will it be later when your devices have access again?
The interconnected world of technology has changed how we have to perceive the threats technology and its disruption causes in our lives. Some might say less technology is better, but we have become hyper reliant on its presence in our lives. We live on social media through our cell phones, we work from home on a computer, we run businesses from a website, and we are connected to our families through all of it.
Awareness of security, awareness of the threats, protection of our home and family are directly tied to technology. In the coming months Art Bowker and I are hoping to help the average Mother, Father and family members address the technology and the threats it contains. Stay tuned and click on the Email with Art and Todd link to stay informed.
